Winter Vacation 2023 in Punjab Pakistan
It has been decided that Winter Vacations for education institutions will start on 23rd December 2023. All Public and Private schools of Punjab are to remain closed for winter vacation starting December 23rd, 2023 to January 6th, 2023.
The decision was taken after a meeting at NCOC attended by Shafqat Mahmood, Asad Umar, and Dr. Faisal Sultan.
The National Command and Operation Center Meeting
Firstly The National Command and Operation Center decided on Friday that the winter vacations in schools will start on 3rd January. Now a meeting chaired by NCOC head Asad Umar to reschedule winter vacations of education institutes was held on 17 December 2023. This session was also attended by Shafqat Mahmood, SAPM Health Dr. Faisal Sultan, and all other stakeholders.
NCOC’s earlier meeting had ended inconclusively because the participants could not agree on the date of 3rd January. The ministry of education had recommended 25th December for the winter vacation but apex COVID-19 did not agree to it.
School Education Department of Punjab Vacations
Now School Education Department of Punjab has decided on winter vacations for Public and Private schools. These vacations are starting from 23rd December. A formal announcement was made in this regard.
The winter vacation has been decided by the School Education Department (SED) of Punjab for the Public and Private schools which are starting from 23rd December 2023. This formal announcement was made by Punjab School Education Minister Murad Raas on social media. Now all Public and Private schools will observe winter vacations from 23rd December 2023 to January 6th, 2023in Punjab.
LAHORE (Dunya News) Punjab government announces winter holy days from 23rd December. The government of Punjab announced that all educational institutions and schools across the province will remain closed from 23rd December to 6th January in lieu of winter vacations.

Punjab Education Minister Dr. Murad Raas also tweet the notification on his Twitter account. The notification is:
“All Public and Private Schools of Punjab to remain closed for winter vacation starting December 23rd, 2023 to January 6th, 2023. Please get vaccinated and follow SOPs issued by the government,” the provincial education minister tweeted a notification on his Twitter handle.

On the other hand, the winter vacations in KPK and plain areas would start from 3rd January 2023 to 12th January 2023. Similarly, the winter vacations in snowy and hilly areas of KP would start from 24th December 2023 to 28th February 2023.
Lahore High Court (LHC) had ordered the closure of schools from 23rd December 2023 to 4th January 2023 and nullified the NCOC decisions to hold winter vacations in educational institutions from the last week of January 2023. LHC announced the decision to close schools during the smog case.
Justice Shahid Karim said that if the government did not decide to close the schools then the court will pronounce its final verdict.
During the hearing of the smog case justice, Shahid Karim said that take some steps to immediately control the smog. He said that the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) had not taken steps to control the smog.
LHC orders related to winter vacations
LHC ordered to the collection of the fines from all responsible persons within a week and no concessions should be made for the recovery of fines.
There is no announcement about the winter vacations for the Public and Private Colleges and Universities has been made by the Higher Education Department (HED) Punjab. But the sources of the department said that the winter vacations at Higher Education Department will start on 26th December 2023.
